چکیده

The results obtained in Part 1 of this investigation (Morton & Todd, 1950) have indicated as the structure of the haemolytic acid a straight chain monobasic fatty acid of 18 carbon atoms, containing one unsaturated bond ofthe ci form. Because ofthe small amount of the acid available, elucidation of its structure by degradative studies was rather difficult, and therefore some physical approach to the problem was sought. A compound ofthis type would be expected to lend itself readily to investigation by the insoluble monolayer technique and, as will be shown below, considerable information as to the structure of the acid has in fact been obtained by this means. A Comparison of Apparent Digestibility of Nutrient in Caspian Horse Feeds as Determined by Total Collection of Faeces, Acid Insoluble Ash and Lignin Methods

The aim of this research is to compare indigestible internal markers acid insoluble ash (AIA) and acid detergent lignin (ADL) and total collection of faeces (TCF) for apparent digestibility estimation in Caspian horse. Analyses were carried out on wheat straw, alfalfa, barley and maize, for dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fiber (ND...

Behenic Acid Monolayer and Bilayer Assemblies- A Study of Concanavalin A (Con A) Adsorption and its Interaction with Dextran Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Spectroscopy and Microscopy

Deposition of behenic acid (B.A) mono and bilayers onto gold coated surfaces was performed by Langmuir-Blodget dip-casting technique. Surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) and ellipsometry methods were employed for investigation of the monolayer and bilayer films. The adsorption of the biologically important molecule Concanavalin A (Con A) from bulk solution to these monolayers and bilayers as we...

Large Rarely Occurring Fibromatous Epulis in a Snake Antivenom Producing Horse

Epulis is a benign neoplasms of the oral cavity, derived from the periodontal ligament or connective tissue, occur commonly in dogs and rare in cats. However, it is very rare in horse. The tumor can be very large to interfere with normal mastication. Several forms of epulides can histologically be distinguished in dogs. Fibromatous epulis microscopically characterized by a dense well vasculariz...
